Wisconsin | Yes, there's a temperature that you don't want the hatching eggs to go below, I don't remember exactly, somewhere around 40 maybe? Could also be that the hens and rooster weren't as active in the cold.
I used an old fridge with a digital temperature controller (kind of funny to set it for the right temp, it only had three digits, so would go to 100,101,102, so I calibrated it a few degrees off, so I can set it to 99.5 and actually have the correct temp, and still be able to adjust it 0.1F). The fridge holds the temp and humidity more stable, easier fresh air, easy enough to add a home made turner. Did a little better than 2/3 hatching, usually 3/4 or a tad better. | |
