Many farms sold near me in this 80s time frame. Land dropped 50%. Yes IF you could hang on to the land it turned out to be a ok investment but you still had to make the payments. Many could not make the payments and lost it. It was just a tough time. No neighbors had money to buy so it dropped in value.


50%. You were lucky. We peaked at around $3K/acre and by the time the dust settled and Farm Credit started liquidating, many farms were bought between $600-$800/acre.
