Afraid so. What do we do now? Kill the new Supreme Leader and anyone who follows that is not approved by the US? I think it was more than a little unrealistic to think that the poor and oppressed were going to be able to rise up after the death of the old leader and install a regime that is more compassionate and friendly. Obviously we have them massively outgunned militarily. Their biggest weapon is oil. That is what he US and the rest of the world are most concerned with. Oil production has slowed or come to a halt with little of it being shipped and a lot of infrastructure has been destroyed. If peace is ever achieved I question how fast oil can begin flowing and lower prices.
Thier biggest weapon is a mindset that pervades after centuries of fighting so called religious wars. That won't end in 5, 6 or 8 weeks. |
