Nebraska | Don’t try to outguess it. Don’t sit out unless you’re going to take in someone else’s cows to use it. I would go buy virgin heifers and breed them if you are looking to own them long term, but if you don’t mind doing some swapping in the next year or two, I would go buy May/June calving cows to fill it, usually there’s some buys on those in late April and early May as some guys just want to be done calving by then and sell them. You can rebreed them or split and feed both groups until after the first of the year and trade into more breds. Pairs never seem to like a good buy to me for various reasons.
