It was way easier for us to make payments on that situation back then than for my son at todays prices.
Back when I first bought (1974) a bit a good job would bail you out if farming was bad, today i.e. a 2 mil farm an off farm job doesn't make it
Always been a battle to get land as a beginner against an established farmer. I had kind of bought it fro $550 an acre ,then neighbour next door bumped it to $775
Same farm was offered to GF in 1949 for $70 an acre but after buying some land for $100 in 1923 ,then depression farming he wasn't interested |
