Technically yes, but this is what happened
When a cow has two copies of the dominant black allele (ED), it will have jet black hair. However, if a cow has one copy of the dominant black allele and one copy of the recessive red allele (e), it will have red hair. This is why red is considered a recessive trait in cattle.
