The Charolais cows I have in my herd are technically Angus/Char crosses, but it’s been my observation for years that those smoky calves get big in a hurry. With that said sometimes I randomly get some solid black calves and I wish I had some comparisons to see if the color of the calf makes any difference in how they grow.
Second oldest charolais herd in the country is west of here—-Cobbs—-a bunch of folks tried them and kept some of them big beautiful heifers—-not many char % cows here now.
Cobbs are known for muscle and bone—-use their bulls and sell all calves—-KERPOW!
And when them smokies come threw with black noses…..!
