or  something  halfway-
Medium duty  6500-7500  pulling the gooseneck?   
you  should be able to  snag a  straight truck with a lot less miles  for the same money as that  $10k  semi tractor. 

After  snapping a  3500's  frame in half at the  cab,   I'll never invest in a  pickup for  truck duty again. At least for the type of work it has to do around here.
  
Instead of  replacing  6 tires  each year on the pickup,   I've gone  6 yrs   on the same set of rubber the  straight truck came with,  and they were  used when I got it.
I do  miss the lack of  4x4  at times however,  turning radius on the straight truck is  way  smaller than my old  3500.. 
added plus,  anybody can drive it-   
Just something to chew on.
