SW OH | I've had 2 Stihl's. 1 new and 1 used. We used to have a small engine place in town that was mostly a 1 man show. Dad bought the new one there and it had several carburetors put on it under warranty. The shop owner finally gave dad his money back after several months of it not wanting to start. The second was used. It was left behind when a right of way crew came across the farm. It ran poorly and I took it to the same shop. He cleaned it up and told me that's as good as it gets. I think i know why they left it behind. I don't remember what happened to it but it was not here long. I wouldn't take a Stihl if you gave it to me.
I grew up with Homelites that dad probably bought at that shop in town. I wore out a 360 professional. It was replaced nearly 30 years ago with a Makita that I still have. It will start by the third pull and has never had the gas drained out of it. We have a few small Homelites still. I've used a couple of Johnsereds that impressed me as well as a Husqvarna.
