NW Illinois
AMS I would think it would be easier to compare against Thiosul. Since both are sulfate forms.

Using 450.00 for 32% makes roughly .70c a pound of N
Using 420.00 for Thiosul. So .70c x 240 pounds of N is 168.00. 420-168= 252.00. 252.00 divided by 520 pounds of Sulfur. Makes .485 a pound sulfate form sulfur. Dry elemental is say, .30 to .35c a pound.

So using $400.00 a ton AMS. 420 pounds of N x .70 is 294.00. 400-294= 106.00. 106.00 divided by 480 pounds of Sulfur is .228c per pound of Sulfate. Guessing 400.00 in this example isn't current AMS cost.

That's how I compare forms. Just plug in your known numbers for 32%, Thiosul, and AMS and compare. I like to know what Dry elemental is worth as well to see how close buying sulfate form is against it.

Edit to add: If you have other sources of N to alter the cost a unit for the Nitrogen in this equation, go ahead. I was using what is most common for us here.
