| Made the change to completely fall calving a few years ago. Better utilization of labor, mostly because there isn’t much. Stockpiled grazing eliminates feeding and the quality of the stockpiled grazing (regrow after one cutting of hay) is better than any hay. A bad winter can be tough on calves so I have a calf shed with a creep pen with good quality hay and lick tubs. I’d never go back but fall calving better suits this place than most. | |
