western iowa,by Denison | I do around 1500 bales a year with bale spear similar to the post above
set bale on end,take spear 1/2 way down the net cutting net wrap,push bale over back up -put spear just below the remaining net wrap and slowly push bale over,tilting spear to hang on to the net wrap,as bale stands now on edge you have the net wrap on the spear and the rest of wrap comes along
works good with heavy wrap,and works really good if it is not the cover edge wrap
went to this because Adam,my son gets sick around mold,and noticed i feel better if i stay out of the dust
we typically go thru 3,000 bedding bales a year,1/2 of them are handled this way,we do have a shredder also,but if i was doing less then a 1,000 bales a year this is the simplest
not getting off the skid loader or tractor sure seems like a winner
a sharp knife and taking net wrap seems faster but on average it is about twice as fast not getting off the skid loader
