Why on earth would you want to try and make your own EDTA zinc??? First off, its super cheap. I buy EDTA zinc 9% from Brandt for $4-4.50 per quart, I could get it even cheaper if I bought it earlier in the year. And with that product I am GUARANTEED something that will mix well with everything else in my tank. I have seen plenty of disasters in starter tanks and spray tanks with lower quality zinc products, even other 9% edta zinc. So why would you want to try and chelate your own zinc in a bathtub in your shop to potentially save a few nickels when it could result in your dumping an entire tank of starter or a full sprayer? I agree with Easy, total waste of time. If you want high quality 9% edta at a good price I can give you the number of the guy who I buy from.

$4 a pound for zinc as since sulfate vs the $20-30 a pound you're paying for retail product. There's money in the table.
