Subject: RE: Zero-turn mower with a steering wheel

For cultivation I have sweeps and finger weeders. I have autosteer on my tractor but the ground is rolling and slack in the setup lets the toolbar move quite a bit. I’m constantly nudging it back and forth. Having the implement in front of me I could run the sweeps and fingers closer to the row and not have to be constantly looking backwards. I would be much better off with a G but the autosteer is nice. If I’m gonna fabricate something It’s gonna be better than a G. I’m growing veggies and some of my plots are pretty small. Wrestling a G would get tiresome and require more headland to turn around. The zero turn would get around those patches much easier. I won’t need much ground clearance when the crop is small (my beds aren’t raised) and I plan to put taller tires on the rig to get it a little higher. I could also potentially use my autosteer system on a zero turn. You may be right about the torque but I’m only running a 3 row setup on a 40 inch tilled area and I think a zero turn could handle it. Right now it’s just a thought experiment but if I find a donor machine I’m gonna build it.
