S Illinois | I would be careful assuming that. For example May beans have gone up the whole last month. The time to call if that was a thing would have been at the end of Jan. Corn has been in an upward trend for the last 2 weeks. My guess is they call much more often but only certain times get remembered.
If your merchandiser has any value they realize that beans were coming up against some prior resistance. Corn also. So when at the top of a longer calendar timed trading range it’s best to think about selling some. And yes they may have had end users bushels they needed to fill, but they don’t have a clue as to where price is going.
