Subject: RE: Spring vs fall calving

Central Mo
Have went to all fall calving myself.
I have a day job and it’s nice to get home in the daylight to check them. I’m also a pretty big wimp in the cold weather so if there is trouble I can deal with it in warm weather.
I don’t normally start until middle- end of September.
I usually wean them in May. I used to wean first part of April but seems like we get some pretty good weather swings at that time so I’ve been waiting until May the last couple years.
I always had trouble getting my spring calving cows bred back in the summer.
It does take more feed though.
