Our rural fiber sucked..
In earlier days, just getting a T1 line (1.544 Mbps) was quite expensive...in dialup days. A T3 line (44.736 Mbps) later cost in the thousands of dollars monthly. In bigger cities, it was generally cheaper than in rural areas.
If a fiber ISP is also providing fiber to wireless carriers who need higher amounts of bandwidth at their towers, this ISP should have lots of extra bandwidth when cell towers are not using much.
So, if fiber sucked, either they didn't have enough bandwidth, or they have mismanaged their setup in some manner. |
