Subject: Figuring strawberry fertility ?

Grandview, TX
I planted 1.75 acres of strawberries under plastic mulch last Fall. Rows are 7.5’ apart, twin rows, and the actual bed width is about 36” wide. Going off of fertility recommendations, they have been talking in pounds/units per acre.

Based on soil test recommendations, I need 130 units of nitrogen per acre. I’ve been slowly spoon feeding N through the drip. After talking with another strawberry grower that’s been doing it a while, he commented that I only needed to fertilize for .65 acres through the drip. His thinking is that I’ve got 19 rows that are 500’ long. If I squeezed those rows edge to edge from 7.5’ spacing, that I would only have .65 acres. Is this the correct way to figure ? If so, would I need to figure watermelon fertility at 10’ row spacing the same way ? This is the first time I’ve grown an irrigated crop or used mulch. I’m a dryland rowcrop farmer that thinks in units per acre broadcasted. Thanks for any input.
