Here's the thought. Bayer, but really any seed company could be inserted here, has an area that is switching crops due to economics. This case it seems to revolve around cotton country. So you have seed sales people that normally sell cotton now looking for a higher percentage of seed corn bags. They want to sell, the DSM wants the business and the seed company wants the business. Now the seed company has to look at the inventory they have that agronomically fits where these acres are located. If they are light inventory from the normal volumes based on 2025 growing season forecasting then the bags need to come from somewhere. It's very unlikely the agronomically best fit is taking overstock from the Northern 1/3 of the country and making it work.

Lastly, in the US, planting starts in the south so that is where the first concentration needs to occur. Eventually it spreads widely April and May, then the focus goes everywhere.

Now if the industry as a whole is fighting quality issues, like low germ, and impacting things in every maturity zone then that adds another dynamic to the puzzle.

I believe they will put as many bags as they can sell into any new corn acres down south and sort it out as the year progresses. I believe they could be having quality issues, even in the normal varieties they plant in the southern 1/3, making the need to scavenge bags more then normal.
