With the DJI Mavic series you can let go of the sticks and it'll just hover in place. So flying one without crashing isn't so much a hand eye coordination exercise and more of a planning ahead and knowing ones ability. So it's more like staying further away from trees in windy weather. Not flying so far away from home that your battery runs out. Realizing the drone doesn't know not to land over water. My Air 2 flies a lot faster in Sport Mode but that disables the sensors that prevent you from flying into obstructions. Flying faster allows one to cover more ground before the battery runs out. So being a better flyer means you know when to use the different modes.

I've handed the controls over to complete beginners after 30 seconds of training but I'm in safe conditions and safe modes.
