Subject: RE: corn vs milo $$$$

NW KS

My question of the day.......Plant milo or more corn this year ?

Local bids are - 1.05 for oct/nov milo at $ 3.65 and -.35 for oct/nov corn at $4.35.

Is there any hope in milo price recovery ?

All dryland in northern Kansas. Milo would get around 120# N and corn would be around 150#

Last year corn yield was about 60 bushel better than milo but corn was also planted into wheat stubble which is a big plus. Milo was into corn stalks. The opposite could happen very easily. Corn would be corn on corn.

Could also switch to more beans instead of milo.

We have always planted milo as long as I can remember.

I've kinda been doing a wheat, wheat, corn, milo, beans, wheat rotation. Some days I wonder about the wheat but the corn does good following it.

why so much N for your yields? good lord......... we are shooting for 120 bushel on 60-70 lb total N with less rain than you get. I would assume you are broadcasting? move that fertilizer to the planter!
