Punch hole tile or slit tile?

No way in hell would I CRP where all the laterals meet a tile main. Your issues will show up towards the end of the CRP contract (7-8 years). Bonus in that your laterals start to back up depending on actual grade and depth where they meet the main. And, then you’ll spend the next 5 years after the contract expires digging them up.

If you’re hiring someone else to fix the tile, how much is the potential bill? Divide that back into your 5 acres over the 10 year term. I’ll bet you lose less money farming it than CRPing it and fixing the system afterwards.

Reed canary grass and all the c4 prairie grasses will love all that nitrogen filled drainage water in that tile and their roots grow fast.
