North Central Indiana | All due respect, lots of things we do on the farm can kill you in an instant. Pick what level you’re comfortable with risk wise. That’s a personal decision. Like lots of other jobs, using the right equipment and keeping it maintained is the best preventative measure. If you can’t do that don’t use it. Chemical exposure or ingestion could also certainly kill you very quickly. Not to get too statistical on you but fatality rate of herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides is almost exactly the same as NH3. NH3 just gets a worse look from the public because it has a big warning sticker on the tank and can have vapor when applied. It’s much “cleaner” to tuck your poison inside the barn or van trailer to mix into a sprayer load where no one sees it. You’re far more likely to die in a grain bin if you had one than by NH3 if you use it. Don’t see a bunch of hate on grain bins. Anyway, that’s just the view here. If it’s flippant in your eyes that’s your call. Not backed by reality, but your call nonetheless | |
