This doesn't answer your question, but I'm going to share the thought anyway.


Cheapest nitrogen we receive, or can experience....  comes from our organic matter.  We can figure 20 to 30 pounds of actual nitrogen, for every 1% of organic matter.... every year.  Probably closer to 20 pounds in cooler climates, and closer to 30 pounds in very warm environments.  

Organic matter can be built up.  Quickest way is to reduce or eliminate tillage.  Beyond that.... anything we can do to enhance the health of our soils will build organic matter.
