Subject: RE: Insurance for hauling cattle

Hartford writes cargo insurance for cattle hauling. My cattle in my pot pulled by my tractor I'm covered, other than that we don't cover the cattle while on the ground, but there is much greater risk when they are in transit. I had an unfortunate incident several years back laid the truck over. Insurance paid the invoiced cost of the cattle and all expenses to get them gathered, then took all the cattle that had been on the truck once we got them caught. I personally wouldn't leave the yard to haul without coverage. If they are going to a sale barn their insurance may have them covered but I wouldn't assume so.
