ND | In my opinion I think it's a real possibility as these acres will come from the fringe areas. If you were planning heavy corn as I in ND well, you're not buying or prepaying 100% of your needs as we live in an area that sees weather swings that may delay planting therefore hard to chance carrying fertilizer and possibly getting storage fees and of course no returns. In early Feb, was it? Fert replacement cost rose for coops/elevators here and me personally had 75% booked and that's what I'd feel safe at but the first increase I ran the numbers and it didn't make sense so 25% of my acres roughly switching to beans. So that is how my operation looked at it and fertilizer has moved much higher since that original time I looked to switch. | |
