| Just some thoughts on troughs, I would just put all piping in HDPE poly vs. any steel pipe going in fiberglass tanks, that way when you get mad and pull fiberglass out plumbing is all in and just throw tire over pipes and cement it. Those 13' tires take little more than a 1/2 yard like .60 of a yard if I recall right. That's off mix truck, not bagged stuff, but should be the same.
Also we cut all our drill stem at 10' lengths for posts and rails for troughs.that way not left with little peices to use up or waste. Also cut posts at 10' for corrals same deal. All our winter use troughs have ponds no floats to keep from freezing. Summer use we float all troughs other than end trough on system will have a pond and free flow to pond for storage and not to over pressure line.
If using tires and float valves we like to cement a big dia. peice of culvert pipe upright over valve in tire. Then make a steel lid for it, cows can't get to floats. You can dump a 800-1,000 of cattle on a trough like that and they won't tear it up. It will be over 2 to 3 weeks before I'lll be in the country with the fiberglass troughs if you need pics of them. | |
