| when I was initially diagnosed at diabetic, my doctor sent me to see a nutritionist. She gave me a handout on eating, which I still have. On it she wrote: minimum of 30 grams of carbs for each meal: breakfast, lunch, dinner; 60 grams carbs at each of those meals; 35-42 grams protein for each lunch and dinner. That was for me, for my weight and size. So, those numbers will vary for each person, based on their weight, etc. When I was in the hospital, I looked at the menu. They had listed how many carbs were in each item. I think some of those meals I was getting 50 carbs per meal. So, based on that limited information, I would say 30 grams carbs is not too many. It comes down to how many carbs one is consuming in addition to that oatmeal. If I am eating oatmeal, I am adding milk to that oatmeal. |
