Subject: RE: Ag leader Turnpath on articulated tractor

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
We use Turnpath on our 8310R MFWD tractor on the planter. It works very well there with Steer Command Z2 running through the tractor's CAN system. .

We have an articulated STX-450 on tracks but it came with an older Trimble systems with a Nav II on it so no Turnpath there. I have noticed that it works better if I wait to engage until I'm reasonably close to the return AB line before I engage. If I engage before I'm am reasonably close to the return AB line, the system tends to overact and will often kick auto steer OFF. Changing some settings might help that situation but it is easy enough to just wait a bit before I engage. I can believe this might be an obstacle to using Turnpath with an articulated rig.

Possibly having extra large headlands would help but that might not be desirable for your situation. I'm thinking that then the system would not need to turn so tightly and things might work out better. This is of course, speculation on my part.

We plan on putting our Steady Steer from the combine in the Hagie sprayer this year for some broadacre spraying before planting. Since the InCommand running the sprayer will be in the Hagie along with our GPS 7500, it will interesting to see how well it steers in the field. We could also attempt to use Turnpath there since it would be available. Our Hagie has AWS but we would likely just leave the rear steer OFF.
