Alberta | They dont like the hobbles, but they will learn, just make sure they are going for food and water, I have had them stand and not move. then you might have to lengthen them if you can. I know the 3 inch wide nylon hobbles I use give them room to walk easily and sometimes I have to shorten them. Another note. Before you take them off, make sure the cow has interst in the calf. I have taken them off then had to put them back on because the cow allows the calf to suck with hobbles but will not without because she has no interest in the calf. If that is the sace after a month, I will put the calf on another cow who wants to be a mom and ship the heifer. | |
