They've been keeping up with the average prices over the years in their weight class, sometimes above average. In my example I gave the big cows the premium price and the smaller framed calves just the average to factor that in.


Where do your feeders go once sold? Here anything under 700lbs by Nov 1 is destined for grass cattle. Grass cattle use pasture for another year before they go to a feedlot. In contrast, the 7+ weight feeder can go directly to feedlot and will have its head chopped off at 11-15 months of age. I don’t care how you run your operation as long as I’m not paying your bills. Just realize small calves take more grass than big ones in their life cycle.
