Subject: Herbicide modes of action, history and future?

South Central Illinois

What are the history’s of the herbicide modes of action that we use regularly?
As in, how did they originate and when were they introduced?
What are the future modes of action that are in the works to become herbicides?
Apparently a group 28 is coming soon,
Limited information on what it is all about.

Seems like the Modes were once labeled with a letter instead of a number.
Probably originally they were not even lettered.
Seems like they should have been labeled chronologically as they were discovered introduced.
I don’t think this is how it happened, not really sure why?
