West Central Missouri | Interesting. I'm almost 70 and remember needing a certified birth certificate to obtain my driver's license when I was 16, in Missouri, and used again to get a US Passport in the early 1980s. Actually still have that old birth certificate, an old black/white (like a photo negative) with the original raised certification stamp. Those old ones were handwritten and have a lot more information on them than the new ones generated from the computer system. Can get the new ones from county health department offices in Missouri, probably can also order directly online via Sec of State office, think they cost $15 now, not sure.
If you get official marriage certificate, might not need a birth certificate since that would likely have been needed to get the marriage certificate in the first place. To get certified copy of Missouri marriage certificate, call the county recorder in the county that first issued it to get instructions. https://www.mo.gov/home-family/marriage-divorce/
Missouri already has Voter ID (photo ID), and polling place asks for it when you get your ballot, though REAL ID has not yet been required. If you have a MO REAL ID, you were required to furnish certified birth certificate or unexpired US Passport (proof of name, age, citizenship) and proof of current residence when you got it -- this is perhaps not the same in all states. When I renewed my MO CDL REAL ID, I had to furnish proof of current residence again for the renewal, along with my expiring REAL ID.
The new bill would require everyone REGISTERING TO VOTE to provide a document verifying their citizenship, and then also implement strict photo ID requirements TO VOTE. https://www.ncsl.org/state-legislatures-news/details/9-things-to-kno...
