I don't know if I would grind the ear corn. I would probably just buy some ground feed delivered from town as I am lazy.
Grandpa used to just open the bottom door on the crib and throw some protein in an old wooden feeder. Basically the feeder just kept the protein out of the weather and the hogs from wallowing in the protein.
I was always surprised but they cleaned all the corn off the cobs before digging more out of the crib. Perhaps there was hog wire or something over the corn that made it harder to get out that I don't remember.
They self adjusted their protein.
You will need to feed them protein if you feed them just corn.
I had a friend that fed just corn for along time. They never got fat or big.
Ground ear corn could be good mixed with milk.
