I’m an old guy now, but when I was a young boy Dad would say “ throw the sows 100 ears of corn” into the open dirt lot. I was always certain he’d somehow be able to tell if I had thrown the exact number of ears or not.


Haha! My dad also made me count the ears! We raised red duroc hogs, and we were feeding them "shorts" which were kind of a flour/bran type thing we would mix with water in a half barrel, and then dip it out with a milk pail and pour in hog troughs. I would then throw each sow 4 ears of corn like it was some kind of scientific figured ration! Good times!

To the o.p....... you can feed an old hog about anything.
