Subject: Hobbled heifer update to ' Heifer thinking what?'

Eastern NE KS
Right now, evening chores are short and easy at my place. This evening weather is miserable with steady light rain at 32*f. Half inch accumulated from about 1- 6pm.

Hobbled heifer has her calf out in this weather, standing still letting him nurse without a flinch. This was my 1st time witnessing this. I've been seeing sign it was happening but her udder wasn't nursed out. So I worked with them to make it so. The calf would nurse her out when she was in the chute.

This morning I knew we had weather coming so I let him nurse without all the trial and errors we'd do before the chute. Heifer really has trouble with the hobbles. She can easily make a 4" step but always tries for more.

If I'm right about what I saw and what that means for the pairs future, I like it.
