NW KS | most people dont understand the nitrogen cycle.
comparing urea to uan. 100% of urea has to cycle through the ammonia phase. if spread broadcast on top of the soil, it CAN convert on top of the soil and gas off. Where with uan, roughly 50% does NOT have to cycle through the ammonia phase, meaning, you can only "gas off" 50%.
we live where it doesnt rain regularly, so this is very important. banded uan is also MUCH more efficient and less volatile than broadcast.
banding a complete blend of all nutrition, both sides of the furrow, is becoming more popular here every year. most are cutting their nitrogen needs 30-50% and not losing yield | |
