West Central Wisconsin | My wife uses Pillsbury ready made crusts or store brand if on sale. They taste fine to me but an occasional store brand gets a thumbs down once in a while. I have been hinting to her to make a Concord grape pie but our local source for grapes was not good last fall. Recently she has made cranberry pie and we were surprised at how delicious it was! If blindfolded you could mistake it for cherry! Ever since our apple trees have been producing she has been freezing dozens of ready to bake apple pies and apple crisps. They are so handy to be able to take one out of the freezer and have ready if time is short. Another pie she experimented, and perfected, was a venison pot pie. She premade a dozen of these last fall and froze also. She used canned venison and added carrots, potatoes and celery in a gravy. It was a hit for the twenty plus family during deer hunting this past year. Last month we baked a turkey and she made it into turkey pot pies. She's a keeper!
