ecmn
A nutrient can't be snake oil. They are an element that is essential, real and measurable.

Salesman absolutely can be snake oil

If your salesman ask for a plant test before a point of influence to fix a deficiency, that is called agronomy

A salesman selling products without asking for testing is a commission.

A nutrient applied if not needed can be "snake oil"/ wasted money

P1 at adequate levels, applying removal rate P is snake oil sales.
Didn't test to see if you need calcium( insert any nutrient), tossing calcium out there because a salesman said so is snake oil.

If your salesman says "since you are going out to spray toss this product in" is the mating call of a snake oil sale.
