NW IL | Through the 90s and early 2000s we would use the jd 5400 with MFWD to pull out the 4440 and 4450 2wd whenever they found a wet hole doing tillage. Dad was always impressed that the little MFWD could have that much pull. But he was also too cheap (actually poor, because, you know, dairy in the 90s) to afford a larger MFWD tractor.
It was also fun driving the 5400 with a big round bale on the loader and the back end off the ground. Obviously not possible with a 2wd loader.
That 5400 was the first tractor dad bought new in the early/mid 90s. It's still around. 13,600+ hr. Could use an engine overhaul but it's still going! | |
