| Not sure of your layout, but you shouldn't/t have to give up a lot of that nice area. Obviously the end of the pipe has to start in the pond, and they will need an access that will work for their trucks, but you can run the pipe underground horizontally for a long way from the pond. Once it's in place it will be full of water. The vertical lift is was you have to overcome, not the horizontal run. No, you don't want thousands of feet but you can locate it a decent distance away from the side of the pond. Without getting into the hydraulics of water flow, there is a lot of leeway on that.
We have dry hydrants here in marshy areas where the intake is in good clear water but the hookup is right beside the paved road. | |
