If you want to focus on your main crop what I did is just chop and no tilled in rye right behind the chopper. Depending on the fall you have and how many cows an acre you can still get feed. But of course its gonna depend on the fall.
I chopped sept 30 and october 25th I let the cows out and the rye was 4" tall or so.

Ive seen guys try and throw on rye with drones air flows but still doesnt beat a no till drill. Chopped corn and 2 hours later it had rye right back into it.
