Subject: RE: John Deere

North Central Indiana
I can’t speak for all John Deere equipment because someone will pull out a random oddball situation where I’m wrong. But at least on my equipment, if I want to check codes I just hit the right buttons on the screen and it pulls up active and stored codes. Then I take my handy dandy operators manual or my cell phone and look up the code. Doesn’t cost me anything. Now if I want the diagnostic steps yeah I would have to pay for it, just like with my truck. I have a code reader that I had to buy separately from the truck *gasp* to even be able to read the codes. And it doesn’t give me diagnostic steps. And I had to buy it! John Deere at least gave it to me with the tractor! Holy cow I know, no one will believe it but it’s true. So my JD tractor gives me more information on codes than my truck does, and I’d have to pay for the diagnostic equipment and steps for my truck if I wanted them same as the tractor. I just don’t understand why guys get so bent out of shape on that. What equipment do you own that comes with full system diagnostics steps for every possible code? I’m genuinely interested to know if there’s anything.
