| About 1984. Exceptionally hard plowing year. Our 4430 was struggling with a 5-18,s 1450 JD plow. Before that year it did very well, ( it was turned up) IH dealer had a 5288 FWD in the neighborhood for people to try out. Dad was green through and through. He thought, wth free plowing? We thought the plow wasnt even in the ground it walked right through the very shiny areas. Finished plowing in a couple day. We were sold on FWD. Needless to say the neighbors saw it, didnt take long for word to get to the JD dealer in town about us. He showed up in a day wondering wth we had done! He was relieved to hear the story. But that fall Dad traded the 4430 for a new 4450 MFWD. Havent looked back since | |
