Subject: Solar panel for a fence charger questions.

Southeast Colorado
So I bid on the Speedrite 3000 chargers that sold on Auctiontime a couple of days ago. They had homemade solar charger set ups. They had a frame built that held the charger, solar panel, and a car battery. I felt like I bid plenty (either side of $350) for something used/with no way to even know how well it worked.........but didn't get anything bought.

So now maybe I want to build one. I already own a couple of Speedrite 6000s, and one 3000. I'm happy with how they all work..........but wouldn't mind occasionally being able to run one off a battery I didn't have to worry about constantly changing out.

So how would I know what size of solar panel I need to buy to make this deal work?

Last but not least, I see a Parmak 12 volt charger with a built in panel that is rated about the same as a Speedrite 3000 (at 3 joules). The Parmak can be bought new for about $350. A Speedrite 3000 can be bought for about $300. But I've already got one of those.

Anyway..........any advice??
