Along time ago (in Canada I remember a bull called Galant, born 1968 imported here as one of the originals (CSA # 11) bulls (and likely some heifers) were imported from the Emme valley (Emmental).
A bit of history about the breed,
ECH Ranching had a cow named "Tinda 1B" REG.# 438, who was one of the first cows imported to Canada, Tinda was bred to Galant and produced a bull called "Galant Best". Bar 5 Simmentals had a cow named Tosca 1B, REG# 182 another of the first cows imported to Canada, she was bred to the Galant Best bull and that combination pretty much made Bar 5 Simmentals into the powerhouse breeder they were in the 70's, 80's and 90's. Any bull from Tosca and Galant Best cross sold for 10s of thousands on name alone. Bar 5 also crossed Tosca with another ECH bull that was a Tinda/Extra (another import bull) cross called Extra Best. This also gave the same sale results for Bar 5. Tinda was bred to numerous bulls but none had the impact on Simmental breed in Canada that her 2 offspring bred to Tosca had
