Eastern NE KS
This field in the picture is just 22 acres. 4 years ago, I planted it to tall fescue, that had a lot of orchardgrass seed, red clover that all gone and oats. Cows came home to this 65 acre area in November. It hadn't been grazed till they came home. I want endophyte friendly fescue but no seed available. I may hay it this year to knock down the grass bunches. There a little native and quite a bit of brine lands in this pasture but not seen in this picture.

It was a small row crop field with another 8 acres nearby. Down stream 1 mile away from my land is a 50 acre lake with houses around it. They came offering to help build a soil conservation structures if we got nrcs involved to engineer something to hold soil runoff out of their lake.

NRCS recommended 3 WASCOBs. I like to call them dry sinks. You can see the drain for one in the picture. Plastic carries surface water to creek level. I'm on the hook for 6 more years of "maintenance" but the grass is taking care of that.

The lake people did more work with the farmer next to me. He had about 100 acres in tillage and drained to the lake as well.

The rowcrop was farmed by another neighbor. I think he was happy to loose the 30 acres, 1 mile from county roads and behind 5 gates.
