Ne Colorado | Hey guys. Could use some advice. We dont put up our own dry hay anymore. Silage season is to busy for me with corn so I just hire the hay done where I can’t get to it. I’m trying to support a local kid starting his haying business but he’s getting WAY too much dirt in the bales. Think my millet hay averages 14-1500lbs. He put up some average 2200#. About killed my hay grinder. He’s using a V rake he owns. I had wondered about buying a hydraulic drive rake. Have him run that on my stuff and keep it lifted up about even with the stubble. It wouldn’t be on the ground that way. Would a hydraulic rake be the way to go?? I can buy one fairly cheep.
Before anyone says something about having too little of windrows…..yes I understand. Share some rain with us to where we might grow 1ton/acre millet again haha!! | |
