Subject: The real droughts start in the SE?

NW Indiana
Isn't that the old saying that the real droughts start in the southeast? Living in an area that normally gets near 40 inches of rain a year thinking about a drought this time of the year seems laughable. But I seen on the news they just closed I-75 between Naples and Miami because of a wildfire got me looking at the drought map. So then I brought up 2012. A drought in the cornbelt this time of the year is normally a good thing but does this in the SE deserve attention? Lots of drought in the south with planting in those areas getting going. I don't think it means much but with crop insurance decisions here and the much larger subsidies it probably does deserve some consideration on coverage levels.
