Well that was yesterday am number, so day old news. But yeah.
Heard interesting story. Southern border closed to cattle, but not to Mexico imports. Heard mexican beef processors are over run with cattle they can not kill due to border shut, they may be halfing or quartering beef and exporting to southern Us packing plants that are not busy and they finish the job. Time will tell I guess. One way to get around the ol CoF reports. Either way sounds like Mexico has some cheap meat to get rid of?
That was commerce that was normal and happening every day before the screw worm issue. It’s probably best to keep the border closed to keep the parasite south of the border, and accept carcasses for processing as economics and demand dictate. The last thing the industry needs is another plant to shutter because there’s not enough product to keep busy, and that is just exactly what the packing companies will do if there isn’t sufficient volume to operate efficiently. |
